Country Music with Hoosier Highway StyleHoosier Highway was actually the brain child of Tom Zank and Jon Barrett; two singer /songwriters from Northwest Indiana. After having no luck finding musicians to form a solid band it was suggested to them from their friend Allen Evett that they should try to get together with Curt Durham and Mark Price, two guys he just happened to be in a band with.
Having a great ear for Music & Talent Allen thought their Vocal Harmonies would be magic. Well he just happened to be right. From the moment they sang together they knew they had something special. Harmonizing came easy and their vocals gelled together so well. Along with Tom Zank’s song writing, things were looking up & moving fast! Now with a solid rhythm section, melodic guitar riffs and ear pleasing harmonies, Hoosier Highway was born! After playing a few shows and getting to know each other the band really had this feeling that they were more than just a typical bar band. Always striving to reach another level and demanding nothing but the best from themselves they honed their craft and expanded to play the U.S… Unfortunately as things go, Jon Barrett had to leave the group for personal reasons, and the band wanting to keep their drive going quickly looked for a replacement lead singer. As luck would have it, they just happened to hear a very talented singer performing in a local group and they approached him with an offer to join Hoosier Highway. Knowing what Hoosier Highway had going for them along with their determination and drive Billy Jones knew this was a once in a lifetime opportunity and jumped at the chance. Now with the lead singer’s shoes filled the band realized with their original music to stay true to the recordings they needed the addition of another guitar player. Enter Shane Coursel… Having country roots and chops to match Shane brought a new dynamic to the music with his edgier guitar playing style and “never good enough” attitude. The group was completed, reborn & better than ever! !
Now, HH is five guys with the same goals and same dreams…since 2005 and playing as many as 250 shows a year to more than 100,000 people, Billy Jones, Tom Zank, Curt Durham, Mark Price and Shane Coursel have finished their second CD entitled “Drivin’”. Having a country feel with rock influences, Drivin’ is in a category all its own. With upbeat tunes like “What is it with love” and the ballad “Make you love me” Drivin’ is sure to please the ear and the heart.
